Dr. Cowan is a core faculty member at Walden University and an adjunct professor at Old Dominion University. She has over 15 years of experience in the mental health field and owns Anchor Counseling and Wellness, LLC in Virginia Beach, VA. Dr. Cowan has experience working in inpatient psychiatric, private practice, residential treatment, integrated care, forensic, and foster care/child protective services settings. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and an EMDRIA approved EMDR therapist. Dr. Cowan has numerous professional publications and has made several national and regional presentations. Her research interests include mass/school shootings, ethical and legal issues, threat/risk assessment, crisis intervention, and vicarious trauma. 

Dr. Cowan volunteers as a Disaster Mental Health (DMH) supervisor with the American Red Cross and regularly deploys to national disaster response operations. She has responded to several mass casualty incidents, including the Route 91 Harvest Festival and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. When in steady-state, Dr. Cowan provides DMH coverage across Virginia, where she works with individuals who have been displaced from their homes due to fires or other disasters. In 2020, Dr. Cowan was the recipient of the American Counseling Association Gilbert and Kathleen Wrenn Award for a Humanitarian and Caring Person.

Jean M. LaFauci Schutt, Ph.D., LPC, NCC, ACS is a Washington D.C.-based professional counselor and consultant with expertise in disaster mental health, crisis intervention, traumatic stress, adoption, and counselor education and supervision. She has experience working in higher education, social service, community, and public and private school settings. Trained in the American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health and Federal Emergency Management Agency/Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (FEMA/SAMHSA) Crisis Counseling models, her disaster mental health and crisis counseling work has involved service delivery, needs assessment, and program development focusing on the areas of psychological recovery and preparedness, posttraumatic and acute stress, stress management, and outreach. The coronavirus pandemic has deepened her personal experience with children’s stress reactions and advocacy for safe opening of schools following disasters. Dr. LaFauci has conducted trainings and presentations for in-service staff, national, and international audiences and is published in peer-reviewed journals and newsletters. She has served on various counseling committees including the American Counseling Association Crisis Preparedness and Trauma Counseling Task Force and is currently serving on the Chi Sigma Iota Counselor Professional Members Committee. Dr. LaFauci Schutt is honored to serve on the International Association for Resilience and Trauma Counseling's inaugural Ethics Committee. 

Dr. Michelle Santiago is an only child of a single mom and was a first generation student from an underserved and underrepresented population when she graduated from Moravian College in the  1990s.  She earned her doctorate of clinical psychology degree in 2004;  she has worked in a vast myriad of MH and higher ed settings since 1996 and is also a former Title IX investigator.

She brings to the ethics committee previous leadership experiences at the national level for APA Division 35- society for the psychology of women, several board of directors positions, and most recently, as the vice chair of her state's licensure board for SW, MFT and PC, where she also is on the probably cause hearing committee.

She is currently the Director of Clinical Training and an Assistant Professor of Practice in Moravian University's graduate clinical counseling program.  She enjoys spending time arguing with her cat Gertie, volunteering, and looking for things she has misplaced during the week.

Mike Dubi, EdD, LMHC, NCC  Dr. Dubi is founder, President, and CEO of the International Association of Trauma Professionals, and editor of the TraumaPro Newsletter with a circulation of over 65,000. He is an Associate Professor of Counselor Education at Argosy University/Sarasota since 1997.  He has over 50 years of clinical practice in Florida, and is a Qualified Supervisor.  He is certified in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Hypnosis, EMDR, and Brainspotting.  He is also a Board-Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, a Certified Trauma Specialist, Certified in Acute Traumatic Stress Management, Certified in Compassion Fatigue, and Certified in Disaster Mental Health.  He has published several book chapters and a variety of articles on trauma, power therapies, case conceptualization, and supervision.

Dr. Springston is an Assistant Professor/ Assistant Program Director at Lindsey Wilson College and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Kentucky.  Dr. Springston has over 20 years of experience in the mental health field working with various populations.  Dr. Springston has taught with Lindsey Wilson College for over 15 years.  Dr. Springston has presented locally and nationally on various topics related to Counselor Education and Clinical Practice.  In practice, Dr. Springston works through a developmental lens and recognizes the tremendous impact trauma and adverse experiences have on mental health and wellbeing.  Dr. Springston incorporates a trauma focus into clinical practice as well as teaching and supervising.  In clinical practice, Dr. Springston works primarily with adolescent and neurodiverse populations.  Dr. Springston has recently begun to explore research related to the lived experiences of Religious Trauma.  Dr. Springston is honored to be a part of IARTC and is excited to witness the growth of the division firsthand.
